For the second year in a row, I am walking in memory of my Mom who died of bladder cancer on May 1, 2012. Sandy Brown fought this disease for 3 tireless years, but passed away at the age of 68. She was far too young to go and had so much to live for, including 9 grandchildren. My efforts, and those of my team mates, will help ensure other people like my Mom have a greater chance of survival!
There have been no new significant advances in bladder cancer in more than 20 years. And yet bladder cancer is the fifth most deadly form of cancer to affect Canadians. Funding for bladder cancer research is also only a fraction of what other “more popular” cancers receive.
I have been a cancer research fundraiser since 2006. For 3 years, I captained a Run for the Cure team. And in 3 additional years, I co-captained a team with Libby Znaimer and Leanne Wright for The Weekend To End Women’s Cancers. Our supporters helped raise some $140,000 for cancer research. Last year, my team raised $5000 for our first year in the Bladder Cancer Awareness Walk. This year, our team goal is $7500 and my personal goal is $5000! Please help me make it happen by making a tax deductible donation!
I would also like to extend a big thank you to my supportive company, ZoomerMedia Ltd, for sponsoring my team!
Thank you for making a donation! Big or small, it is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Jane
