Finally…Toronto has a rail link to the airport!

The Union Pearson Express opens this weekend, with trains departing from both Union Station and Toronto Pearson International Airport every 15 minutes. The journey takes twenty five minutes and is comparable to the experience in most other major world cities with rail links from the downtown core to the airport. Prices are not cheap: the one way Adult fare is $27.50; for Zoomers 65 plus it is $23.40; for Students 13-19 it’s $23.40 and Children aged 6-12 are $13.75. There is also a Family fare of $55. So for a couple going to the airport from midtown, the cost will be $55 plus a likely bus or subway fare which is comparable to the cost of the taxi ride. And the taxi ride is door to door, with no lugging of heavy suitcases through public transit. So I think that the main users will be single business people, rather than vacationing couples and families. Still, I look forward to experiencing the ride soon!
