CELEBRATING DISNEY’S 100th

The Walt Disney Company was formed October 16th, 1923 – so I’m celebrating their 100th birthday with fourteen classic songs (and stories) from Mickey’s debut in ‘Steamboat Willie’ to Disney’s incredible run through the decades; including Snow White and Pinocchio, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Toy Story and Bruno. A century of movie – and music – magic.  We were all children at one time – and for most of us, Disney was a part of that childhood; not to mention Disney in our own children’s lives.  This will be a show filled with wonderful memories. I hope you’ll tune in.

I’m also responding to a listener’s recent suggestion to play a couple rarely-heard Canadian artists who were compared to Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra: Dick Todd and Vic Franklyn gave us some great songs ‘back in the day’.  I’ll add Tommy Ambrose to make it a terrific trio.

In the show’s first hour (2-3pm.) – ‘Our Sunday Best – A Century of #1 Hits‘ spotlights chart-toppers from this week in past years: from Guy Lombardo in the 20s, Everly Brothers in the 50s, and Beatles in the 60s to Adele in the new millennium. And ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ ‘Jack and Diane’. Cheers !
