Victoria Day is this Monday and it’s a long holiday weekend – did you know Canada is the only country in the world where it’s a holiday? So let’s go all out and enjoy it with a celebration of British music. ‘The Best of the Brits‘ features English artists singing about England. I’ve put together a rather eclectic list which runs the gamut from Noel Coward and Rex Harrison to The Beatles and David Bowie, Rod Stewart and Vera Lynn – and, those wacky fellows in Monty Python too ! I think you’ll love this hour – ‘Best of the Brits‘.
I’ll also have a birthday salute to Bruce Cockburn, and in the show’s first hour – ‘Our Sunday Best – A Century of #1 Hits‘ – will ‘streak us’ from Guy Lombardo and Perry Como, through Elvis, The Young Rascals to U2. Along the way, I’ll explain why we’re ‘streaking’, and I’ll tell you ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ ‘Sir Duke’ by Stevie Wonder. Have a wonderful – and safe – Victoria Day holiday weekend, and spend a couple hours on Sunday afternoon with ‘Vintage Favourites’ at 2pm.
