Every year since 1986, the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame has inducted several worthy artists whose first release was at least 25 years earlier. There are well over 300 inductees by now, but every year, we are pleased – and sometimes surprised – to hear about the latest to be welcomed. This year is no different: the 2022 inductees range from pop mega stars like Lionel Richie and Carly Simon, to British new wavers Duran Duran and Eurythmics, to rap icon Eminem, rocker Pat Benatar and country-pop crossover legend Dolly Parton.
It’s a great list – and makes for a great listening experience when I feature songs from each of them this Sunday (Nov.6). I’ll also salute Joni Mitchell on her birthday and, in the first hour’s feature – ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ – the ‘Story Behind the Song‘ ‘Do You Wanna Dance’ – the sultry remake of the old dance song, by ‘The Divine Miss M’ – Bette Midler. Her debut album was released 50 years ago this week.
Please join me for a great edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’ this Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30pm.
