LOST HITS OF THE LATE SEVENTIES

My recurring series on ‘the lost hits’ has uncovered great songs that – for various reasons – failed to make the Billboard Hot 100’s ‘Top Twenty. To date, we’ve featured ‘The Lost Hits’ of the Fifties, the Early Sixties, the Late Sixties, and The Early Seventies.  This Sunday (28th), we’ll dive deep into the charts to find ‘The Lost Hits of the Late Seventies’ – a time of disco and the new wave, of Elvis and a former Beatle, Billy Joel and Bob Seger.  These were – and still are – great songs; they just happened to fall short of the Top Twenty. This Sunday, we’ll enjoy them again.

In the show’s first hour – ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ – I’ll recall Elvis Presley’s last performance outside the US. Yes, it was his third and final performance in Canada !  Plus, the day The Beatles met Bob Dylan, and how they influenced each other, and ‘The Story Behind the Song ‘Ode to Billie Joe’.  Its lyrics were a mystery then, and over five decades later, remain an enigma we can only guess at. I hope you’ll join me for this show, Sunday from 2:00 to 4;30.
