SONGS – JAMES BOND SONGS

James Bond fans have waited a long time for the 25th Bond film, and the last one featuring Daniel Craig as the super-spy. The blockbuster series has generated $14 Billion (inflation-adjusted) since ‘Dr. No‘, the first Bond film, back in 1962.  One of the most common topics of conversation among film fans – especially Bond fans – ‘who’s your favourite Bond’ ?  Not so easy to answer.  Sean Connery’s the ultimate Bond, I think; establishing the character’s template. Roger Moore’s Bond gave me the most fun, and I can’t deny Daniel Craig’s Bond is the most exciting, with eye-popping action scenes.
A hallmark of the series has been the themes for each movie – most of them becoming a hit song. I’ll be featuring eleven of the best Bond songs, including the iconic theme introduced in the first film, and the most recent by Billie Eilish – ‘No Time to Die‘. I’ll have at least one theme song from each of the six leading men’s films.

Robbie Lane is another ‘icon of the Sixties’ – with his own ‘licence to thrill’ club-goers and radio listeners as part of ‘The Toronto Sound’.  Robbie’s been a big part of the Zoomer Team for well over a decade – hosting our ‘Top Ten at Ten’ and ‘Next Eleven at Eleven’, along with his ‘Robbie Remembers’ The 60s at 6, 70s at 7, 80s at 8, and the 9 O’Clock Mix every weeknight and the ‘British Invasion’ on Saturdays at 6pm. It’s Robbie’s birthday coming up and I’m glad to salute him with a half hour of his best songs.

And in the first hour of ‘Vintage Favourites from 2-3pm., it’s ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ – remembering Elvis’ first public performance at age ten, Chubby Checker turning 80, John Mellencamp turning 70, and ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ – ‘Mack the Knife‘. You’ll hear two versions of the classic song – both winning Grammy awards for their singers.  It’s another packed edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’ this Sunday (Oct.3), from 2:00 to 4:30.
