After 4 weeks at ‘Fantasy Park’ – our imaginary concert-series to help us during this Covid-cancelled summer concert season – I’ve got a new feature launching this Sunday (July 26). ‘This Week in Zoomer Music’ is a look back at major events that happened during this week. This first feature takes us back 80 years to the debut of Billboard’s first official sales-based music chart, and the first song to be #1 … we’ll also visit the Newport Folk Festival and the day the music changed – forever – 55 years ago this week when Bob Dylan plugged in and shocked the crowd introducing his landmark recording ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ … we’ll remember the day Johnny Cash was nominated for multiple music video awards by MTV for his life’s final work – the powerful song ‘Hurt’ … and birthday nods to Don Henley and Carlos Santana. There’s a guarantee of wide musical variety during the 1-2pm. hour as we salute ‘This Week in Zoomer Music’.

The major spotlights this week will be on two musical icons with birthdays: Canada’s original teen idol, Paul Anka; and the first ‘bad boy’ of the British Invasion – Mick Jagger. So buckle in for lots of Rolling Stones and Paul Anka songs between 2:00 and 4:30pm. ‘It’s only rock’n’roll – but I like it.’ Cheers.
