There’s a report this morning that the TTC is suing the company building the last stop on the Spadina subway extension.
The CBC says the Commission is suing Arup Canada over its construction of the Vaughan subway station. The suit alleges construction is not up to code, and the company did not hire competent staff.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
TTC CEO Andy Byford won’t comment on the suit. But he says it will be a challenge to meet the projected opening of the Spadina extension in the Fall of 2016. He says his staff has “identified ways that the contractors need to accelerate their program.” But he says he won’t be able to estimate the timeline or cost until his engineers have done a thorough examination.
A spokesman for Arup Canada says his company is proud of its work, and is confident it can reach an amicable settlement with the TTC.
