The Zoomer Week In Review – February 12th, 2012

Ray Cave and Linda Dawe were high school sweethearts in the 1960s. Like many of that era, they assumed they would be spending the rest of their lives together. But when Linda became pregnant their parents separated the couple and forced Linda to give the baby away for adoption. Linda and Ray didn’t meet again until their high school reunion 40 years later. They are now married and have rekindled a relationship with their daughter. Their story is featured in the TV special Love Later in Life and this week, Libby Znaimer sat down with them to talk about their journey. Also it was during this week in 1964 that The Beatles flew into John F. Kennedy Airport and kicked off the British Invasion! They went to America for three performances on the Ed Sullivan Show, all of which are now a part of television history. The Zoomer Week In Review – January 29th, 2012

On September 11th, 2001, all 658 Cantor Fitzgerald employees working on and above the 101st floor of One World Trade Center lost their lives. Just days after the attacks, chairman and CEO Howard Lutnick promised that 25% of Cantor Fitzgerald’s profits would go to the families of the deceased. He kept his promise, and along with his Sister Edie, has since raised over $250 million dollars for the families of 9/11 victims. On this episode, Libby is joined by Howard and Edie Lutnick to talk about their memories of the tragedy, and how their lives and many others have changed since. Also, a recent study by CIBC finds that Zoomers are responsible for rising Canadian household debt more than any other demographic.
