October 14, 1940 – Cliff Richard

Britain’s most successful solo artist, Sir Cliff Richard, was born on this day as Harry Webb in 1940. His first hit was in 1958 with ‘Move It’, which is often described as Britain’s first authentic rock n’ roll song. John Lennon once claimed, “before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music”.
