Jim Reeves

Country singer Jim Reeves was killed in a plane crash when the single-engine Beechcraft Debonair that he was flying crashed after the plane encountered a thunderstorm.

Reeves’s body was found in the wreckage after a 44hour search from his last contact with air control. Billboard commented on the loss of Reeves saying his death was “the latest in a run of tragedies plaguing the country field…”

At the time of his death, Reeves was on the UK charts with his single ‘I Won’t Forget You.’
