There’s been a positive Mosquito test result for West Nile Virus in Toronto
Toronto Public Health says this is the first positive West Nile Virus result in the city this year.
The West Nile Virus was first discovered in Toronto in 2001, and in 2002 there were 163 known cases and 11 deaths.
Health Officials say you can reduce the risk of being infected with West Nile Virus by using mosquito repellent approved by Health Canada.
Also, wearing light-coloured clothing, covering up in areas where mosquitoes are present and remove standing water around your home and property.
There have been no deaths in Toronto from West Nile Virus since 2005.
