Canada has joined in the diplomatic broadside against Russia and China for blocking actions to force Syrian President Bashar Assad from power after more than a year of heavy bloodshed.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird says Russia, in particular, has enabled Assad’s regime to remain in power, despite near-worldwide condemnation of the violence that has killed thousands.
Activists say more than 14-thousand people have been killed since the uprising against Assad’s regime began some 16 months ago.
