The ruby slippers are going to England.
The footwear worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz are leaving American soil for the first time. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History has announced it is making a rare loan of the popular slippers to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
They will become part of an exhibit called Hollywood Costume which opens at the museum October 20th. They will be shown alongside the gingham dress Garland wore as Dorothy. It will mark the first time the ruby slippers and the dress have been together since the movie was filmed.
