The Ontario government says it’s not going to worry about a possible court challenge derailing a wage freeze on nearly 500-thousand public sector workers.
Finance Minister Dwight Duncan says he believes the legislation is strong enough to withstand any court challenge.
Labour leaders have quickly condemned the proposed bill because it also gives Duncan the right to impose a contract if he doesn’t like what the two sides negotiate.
The wage freeze covers workers at hospitals, colleges, hydro companies and long-term care homes but not police or firefighters.
