It’s a bittersweet release of an autobiography by Marvin Hamlisch after his death Monday at age 68 after a brief illness.
Marvin Makes Music, illustrated by Jim Madsen, tells the true story of 6-year-old Hamlisch who was 25 minutes late to his audition for Juilliard Performing Arts Conservatory in New York.
The musician relates how the otherwise grumpy judges laughed when they spotted his yellow pyjamas poking out from his trouser legs.
The book goes on sale November 8th and includes a one-song CD.
Hamlisch had planned to promote the book.
