Yes … we will have no summer election.
That’s thanks to the passage of the minority McGuinty government’s budget in the legislature over the lunch hour.
Right up until the vote the Liberals said they could not trust the New Democrats to keep their word and let the budget pass, but in the end the NDP did as promised … they abstained from voting while the Tories voted against the fiscal plan.
That avoided the automatic defeat of the minority government.
The Liberals are furious with the New Democrats for teaming with the Tories to make more changes to the budget after the government made several concessions to get NDP support.
The New Democrats are just as angry at the Liberals for calling party leader Andrea Horwath disingenuous and a back stabber.
