HARPER FORD MEET ABOUT GUN CRIME

The Prime Minister and Toronto’s Mayor held a closed- door meeting about anti-crime initiatives.

However, neither stopped after the meeting to talk to reporters waiting outside 43 Division police station on Lawrence Avenue east.

The police station is just blocks away from the site of a multiple shooting last week.

Before going into the meeting, Prime Minister Harper said the circumstances behind it  were unfortunate, but that he was eager the two could speak.

A shooting at a community barbecue last week in Scarborough left two people dead, including a 14-year-old girl, and 23 people wounded.

Mayor, Rob Ford met Monday with Premier Dalton McGuinty and Police Chief Bill Blair and secured permanent funding for anti-violence programs from the province.
