Most Ontarians are aware of the importance of organ and tissue donation but new numbers say people in this province, expecially here in the GTA, … are not taking action to help solve the problem.
The latest registration rates have been released by the Trillium Gift of Life Network.
That is the provincial agency mandated with organizing organ and tissue donation.
Overall the provincial average was up a bit to 22 percent.
The GTA also made a slight increase to 13 percent.
Northern Ontario communities continue to lead with the highest rate of registered organ donors.
The Greater Toronto Area organ donation rates remain the lowest in the province.
