GILLER SHORT-LIST ANNOUNCED

Montreal author Alix Ohlin has a shot at another prestigious literary award:  the $50,000 Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Ohlin made the short list with her novel  “Inside”  which is also in the running for the $25,000 Rogers Writer’s Trust Fiction Prize.

Ohlin will face-off against Calgary’s  Will Ferguson who makes the list with “419,”  Nancy Richler of Montreal up for “The Imposter Bride,” Montreal-based  Kim Thuy for her debut novel “Ru” and Halifax’s  Russell Wangersky for his short story collection “Whirl Away.”

Wangersky made the Giller long list in 2006.

Now into its 19th year, the Giller is one of Canada’s most distinguished literary awards.

It recognizes the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English.
