A bagpiper led eight pallbearers as they carried former Ontario lieutenant-governor Lincoln Alexander’s casket into Hamilton Place this afternoon.
Among those attending the service were former governor general Michaelle Jean and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.
One of the speakers was popular former Toronto Argonauts running back Pinball Clemens.
He recalled how Alexander had always been proud to be black — but first he was proud to be a Canadian.
Alexander died earlier this month at age 90.
