The union that represents 3-thousand of Air Canada’s pilots says it will continue its challenge after an a government-appointed arbitrator sided with the airline-s final offer in its dispute with the Air Canada Pilots Association.
The deal clears the way for Air Canada to launch a low-cost carrier.
While Zoomers will like the added competition in fares, the union says the deal will mean lost jobs at Air Canada as it makes a bid to get rid its entire fleet of Embreair planes and contract out domestic and trans-border flying.
The deal also includes nominal increases to pilot pay of between two and five per cent in each year of the contract’s duration and preserves pensions and benefits.
