Government officials have started working on a ”robust” budget update promised in the throne speech, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is not saying just when Canadians can expect to see it.
He told a virtual conference of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce that it will provide guidelines for ongoing COVID-19 spending to help the economy.
Trudeau defended the unprecedented level of assistance.
”COVID is going to be expensive,” the prime minister said.
”The question is who is best positioned to bear these additional costs, and we don’t feel its businesses, we don’t feel it’s ordinary Canadians.”
Trudeau also announced businesses that use a personal banking account could finally apply for a popular federal loan program.
